Possible exotic exchange in pn→Δ-δ++ at 6.98GeVc

Abstract

The reaction pn→Δ-Δ++, where Δ- is emitted in the forward direction in the c.m. system, is observed at 6.98GeVc with a cross section of 0.09 ± 0.03 mb. The ratio between this reaction and the reaction pn→Δ++Δ- with Δ++ in the forward direction in the c.m. system is found to be σ(Δ++Δ-)σ(Δ-Δ++)=12.2±4.5. The Δ-Δ++ production is discussed in terms of exotic meson exchange and double meson exchange.
