Abstract

Angular distributions in the low-|t| region in the reaction K-n→Λπ- and in the linereversed reaction π-p→ΛK0 and from other complementary experiments do not support the predictions of exchange degeneracy between the K12*(890) and the K12*(1420) up to s∼11 GeV2. In the low-|u| region of the reaction K-n→Λπ- at 3.9 GeV/c, we observe a peak with a slope of 10±3 GeV-2 followed by a valley from u=-0.15 to-0.4 GeV2. A simple Regge-pole fit to this backward-scattering region using the Nα trajectory is presented.
